Jen Muranetz [she/her] is an award-winning documentary filmmaker residing on the unceded and ancestral territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen/Songhees) and W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Coast Salish Peoples, in the place now known as Victoria, BC. 

She is a director, producer, cinematographer and editor with more than 10 years experience in the craft of visual storytelling. The content Jen is excited to develop is character-driven and impact-focused.

She is currently in production for the forthcoming film STANDING WITH THE ANCIENTS (Director, 2023) a documentary about the Fairy Creek forest defenders. Previous documentaries she’s played a key role in include: WHAT ABOUT OUR FUTURE? (2020, Producer) which was awarded the Nigel Moore Award for Youth Programming at DOXA 2021, LOST NATION ROAD (2019, Producer) and BETTER TOGETHER (2017, Director). Her earlier experience as a journalist were published and broadcasted on Shaw TV, VICE Canada, alive Magazine and Daily Hive.

Jen was recently a participant in two professional development programs: the 2021-2022 Whistler Film Festival Doc Lab and Story Money Impact's 2021-2022 'Story to Action' impact producing mentorship. She was a recipient of the 2018 BANFF World Media Festival’s Diversity of Voices Fellowship and in 2014, was nominated for a Leo Award for ‘Best Screenwriting’ in the ‘Information or Lifestyle Series’ category. She graduated with honours from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology's Radio and Television program in 2010.
